A winter paradise with the finest powder snow and spectacular views
Sapporo Kokusai Ski Resort boasts some of the best powder snow in Japan. Located on the northeast side of Asari-dake, the resort has attractive slopes that can be enjoyed by beginners and advanced skiers alike, and natural snow can be enjoyed from mid-November until Golden Week in May. The ski resort also offers a wide range of rental equipment, so empty-handed skiing is also possible, and a snow park equipped with snow escalators offers a variety of fun and easy activities for first-time skiers and families with children. Another reason for the popularity of this ski resort is the wide variety of meals available. Freshly baked pizza and the popular soft-serve ice cream served at the summit café are very popular. The famous “Kokusai Curry Ramen” is also a must-try, full of flavor and volume. Even those who do not ski or snowboard can take advantage of the “Sky Cabin round-trip ticket” to view the winter scenery overlooking Ishikari Bay and “juhyo”(*). *Juhyo is a fantastic winter phenomenon that occurs in the mornings and evenings of midwinter days (when the temperature drops below freezing (below 0°C) even during the daytime), when moisture in the air turns into ice particles and freezes on trees due to the subzero temperatures.
